At the Vineyard

Secret Valley Vineyard was planted in 2007 and is one Hectare (2 1/2 acres) in size. Four varieties of vines were planted, they are Reichensteiner, Orion, Rondo and Pinot Noir. As with all ventures we have had to learn quickly by talking to other growers, taking advice from consultants and visiting vineyards around the country. A second vineyard was planted in the spring 2010.

In September and October we had a group of employees, friends and family picking the grapes which were transferred into large boxes and taken by Landrover and trailer to a winery. It was not hard work and everyone enjoyed picking and chatting in the Autumn sunshine.We were delighted with the first harvest.

In the spring of 2011 we hope to have a dry White Wine, a Red, a Rose and eventually a Sparkling White. In anticipation of the arrival of the wine, we are currently converting a barn to use as a wine shop and for wine tasting.
